How to Play YouTube Videos in XOGO Digital Signage

embed YouTube, digital signage, XOGO, how-to

XOGO digital signage players can play downloaded YouTube videos, or stream them directly from the web.

To stream or not to stream?

Many XOGO users are interested in playing content from YouTube in their digital signage. This can be accomplished in two different ways:

Download from YouTube

The first method is to download your YouTube content as a video file, and then upload it to your XOGO library. This allows us to optimize your video for digital signage, and cache it on your media player(s) so it will continue to play even if the player loses Internet connectivity. The download method is generally what we recommend since it eliminates the risk of “black screens” due to spotty WiFi connections. There are several free software tools available for downloading YouTube content; we recommend one called 4k Video Downloader.

Streaming from YouTube

If streaming content directly from YouTube is your goal, there’s a free solution called Yout-ube that we highly recommend. It allows you to stream any YouTube video just by modifying its URL. Yout-ube links will auto-play in your XOGO playlist, in full screen and completely ad-free! In order to use Yout-ube just copy your video’s normal YouTube link and then add a “-” into the URL as shown on the Yout-ube website. Then in XOGO Manager you can click +NEW in the library section, paste in your URL, and add it to any of your XOGO playlists.

Summary

With over 2 billion monthly users, YouTube is the world’s largest video repository. If you want to leverage YouTube in your digital signage playlists, we highly recommend using one of the tools above to either download the video and then load it into XOGO (recommended) or to stream ad-free videos directly from YouTube itself.
