Digital Signage in a Post-Covid World

With people working from home and traveling less due to the Covid pandemic, some have questioned whether digital signage is still the best communication medium for large and small businesses. We believe that not only does digital signage have a place in a post-Covid world; it's arguably more important than ever. Here's why:

Plays on any Screen (and in Your Browser!)

One of the most powerful things about XOGO is that it allows you to turn any TV into a digital sign. XOGO Player already runs on Windows 10, Android, Google Chrome, Fire TV and our own XOGO Mini, so you can install the player app on nearly any device or smart TV and get your signage playing in seconds (see our Getting Started instructions).

However, you still can't deliver your message if there's no one in front of your screens. That's why we are in the final stages of developing a new player app called XOGO Online, which plays right in your web browser! The look and feel will be the same XOGO Player that you're used to, but this version can be viewed in a browser or -and this is really cool- embedded on a webpage.

Coming Soon: With XOGO Online you'll be able to push your content not only to your screens, but also to embed the player on your website or corporate intranet, so even your remote employees can see it. Stay tuned for more news; we plan to launch XOGO Online in June 2020!

Touchless & Hygienic

As we all adjust to our "new normal," businesses need to take special precautions around health and safety. Digital signage fits well into the post-Covid world because once your screens are in place, all content is managed via the cloud. There’s no need to send someone “into the field” to change content - it’s a completely touch-free experience.

But that's not all - even interactive experiences can be made touchless and hygienic with XOGO. We're currently working on a large project for a Fortune 500 retailer where content will be triggered in real time using touch-free light sensors that trigger XOGO APIs. Essentially you can wave your hand over a product in order to trigger graphics/video content about that product on a nearby screen. It's a really cool project that we look forward to sharing this summer; in fact, we anticipate lots of demand for touch-free experiences in coming months.

Plays well with Others (i.e. Audience Measuring Tools)

XOGO has APIs that allow your content (graphics, videos, URLs) to be triggered by external sources. This means that XOGO can be combined with sensors (i.e. audience measurement systems) in order to display messaging in real time. Imagine, for instance, that your retail store needs to limit the number of shoppers that are in the store at any given time. By connecting XOGO with an audience-counting tool like a light sensor or camera-based system, you can display a notice outside the store that has a running count of how many people are inside, and politely ask shoppers not to enter until the number drops to X, all while advertising your latest promotions or displaying your social media feeds and other content.

Simple to Manage

Due to the pandemic many businesses have had to reduce their workforce and/or the number of people working in the office. With legacy signage systems this would be an issue, as both marketing and IT would be required in order to produce and publish content. But not with XOGO. Our platform was designed to be the easiest digital signage system on the planet. A single user can upload content, create a playlist and set up a player -from anywhere- and all in about 90 seconds!

Affordable

Did we mention that digital signage is affordable? As businesses scale back on expenses, XOGO remains an affordable way to get your organization's messaging in front of audiences. Whether you are displaying digital menu boards, infotainment or important health and safety information, XOGO has you covered. Our free plan lets you deploy one digital sign for zero cost, while a pro subscription costs as little as $15 per screen per month.
